Are you an experienced Storeperson or Materials Controller seeking a dynamic new opportunity? PiLON is hiring for aConstruction Materials Controllerrole to join our Kitchen & Bathroom refurbishment project in the Social Housing sector. About the Role:
The Construction Materials Controller is central to the seamless functioning of our projects. You will play a key role in ensuring materials are efficiently managed, safely handled, and accurately recorded to support the site team's success.
Key Characteristics of the Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable with physically demanding tasks. You will work closely with purchasing teams, site teams, and contract managers to ensure materials are delivered and handled effectively, and any site-related issues are promptly reported and resolved.
- Experience: Strong background in handling construction materials, especially those used in property refurbishment
- Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexibility: Access to a vehicle is preferred, and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable with manual handling and heavy lifting
- Proactive Approach: Self-motivated and able to collaborate effectively with various teams
Main Objectives of theConstruction Materials Controllerrole:
As aConstruction Materials Controller, your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and unpacking material deliveries, inspecting for accuracy and damage
- Managing material handling, including loading, unloading, and transporting items manually or with pallet trucks
- Sending out materials to teams on-site
- Maintaining accurate records of materials issued and received
- Conducting monthly inventories to ensure proper stock control
- Safely disposing of waste materials in compliance with HSE regulations
- Collaborating with site teams to deliver services aligned with contract and company standards
- Reporting site issues to the purchasing team, site teams, or contracts managers for resolution
Do you have what it takes?
To succeed in this role, youll need:
- Proven experience in working with construction materials used in property refurbishment
- Knowledge of inventory management and stock control
- Computer skills and proficiency in basic software for record-keeping and reporting
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Access to a vehicle (preferred) and flexibility to travel to multiple sites
- Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks

- Asbestos Awareness Training
- Health & Safety Awareness
- Manual Handling Training
